International Advanced Cardiac Life Support!
As requested by the Mexican College of Emergency Medicine (MCEM) in Mexico City and the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) School of Medicine in Matamoros, the Knapp Training Center for the American Heart Association's Certification Programs held an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor and Provider Courses exclusively for medical students in their senior year and practicing physicians from Mexico on February 21, 2009.
The officers of MCEM, Javier Saavedra-Uribe M.D., Academic Director; Luis Anselmo Rodriguez-Martinez M.D.; Issac Martin Vasquez-Delgado M.D., President; and Valentine Gomez-Alaniz M.D., Science Committee Director; along with the faculty from UAT School of Medicine, Emma Zambrano-Santacruz M.D.; Alejandro Arrona-Hernandez M.D. and Ernesto Chanes-Cano M.D.; completed their certification and training as ACLS Instructors. There were 53 total participants to the ACLS Provider Course of which 10 were resident physicians.
Knapp is the only hospital in the Valley to be certified to teach all three programs offered by the American Heart Association: Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Robert Sepulveda M.D. is the ACLS Program Director at Knapp and Jose F. Aguilar R.N. is the Training Center Coordinator.
