Wellness Program

Knapp Medical Center offers a variety of laboratory tests and makes them available at very reasonable prices through our Wellness Program.

  • To schedule an appointment, please call the Knapp Medical Center Laboratory at 956-969-5244 and mention the Knapp Medical Center Wellness Program.
  • Lab services will be available between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Please bring a self-addressed stamped envelope and your social security number with you.
  • We will use this envelope to mail you the results.
  • You can pay for these lab services using cash, a check or credit card.

Lab Tests

Here’s a list of the routine test we offer. Some tests require fasting – not eating or drinking anything other than water for 10-12 hours before the test.

Anemia Panel – $20
Anemia is a blood disorder. There are many different types of anemia. This test help the physician find out what type of anemia may be involved.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: Annually

Arthritis Panel – $30
This test screens for arthritis and arthritis related diseases that damage the joints.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: Annually

Basic Wellness Panel – $20
Includes the following blood tests (described below): Complete Blood Count (CBC), Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) and Lipid Panel.
Fasting: Required (No food or liquids other than water for 10-12 hours before test).
How often: Annually

CA-125 – $25
Screens for ovarian cancer and monitors treatment for ovarian cancer.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: Annually, if at high risk.

Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) – $10
Looks at how well organs are functioning and checks for conditions such as diabetes and liver and kidney disease. Also monitors known conditions and medication side effects.
Fasting: Required (No food or liquids other than water for 10-12 hours before test).
How often: Annually.

Hgb A1C – $10
Used to monitor a person’s diabetes and help to make treatment decisions.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: 2-4 times a year.

HS-CRP – $30
This test helps determine the risk of developing heart disease.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: As recommended by physician.

Lipid Panel – $10
This group of tests can determine a person’s risk for heart disease or stroke. Measures cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Fasting: Required (No food or liquids other than water for 10-12 hours before test).
How often: Annually.

Occult Blood – $5
Screens for gastrointestinal (stomach and intestinal) bleeding, which may be a sign of colon cancer.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: Annually after the age of 50.

Protime – $10
Checks how well blood-thinning medications are working to prevent blood clots; helps detect and diagnose bleeding disorders.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: As recommended by physician.

PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) – $10

PSA Profile (Free PSA and Total PSA) – $30
Screens men for prostate cancer, helps determine if a prostate biopsy is necessary, monitors effectiveness of treatment for prostate cancer, and detects if prostate cancer has returned.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: Annually after age 50 or as recommended by physician.

Rapid Plasma Reagin – $10
This test screens for syphilis infection.

Serum Iron – $5
Checks the level of iron in the blood to diagnose anemia (not enough red blood cells) and other potential problems that can be caused by too much iron.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: Annually.

Thyroid TSH Panel – $15
Used mainly to rule out thyroid problems and to monitor patients receiving iodine therapy.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: Annually.

TSH – $10
Screens for and helps diagnose thyroid disorders. This test will help to monitor treatment of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
Fasting: Not required.
How often: As recommended by physician.

Urinalysis – $5
Screens for metabolic and kidney disorders and urinary tract infections. It is a very common test that is part of many routine exams.
