Community Programs and Support Groups

Here are the Community Programs and Classes we offer on an ongoing basis:

Basic Life Support

This class teaches you how to respond when a person stops breathing or has a heart attack. You will learn:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Advanced External Defibrillator Training

Childbirth Education Classes

These classes teach the whole family how to prepare for the new arrival. Topics covered include:

  • Nutrition and exercise
  • What happens during  labor and delivery
  • Different ways to manage/control pain
  • Newborn care.

Class schedule

  • English classes are held from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
  • Spanish classes are held from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Mondays.
  • Sibling classes are held at the same times for big brothers and sisters ages of 4-12.

First Aid Course

Participants learn how to deal with medical emergencies, including:

  • Sudden illness
  • Broken bones
  • Poisoning, and other topics

MS Support Group

This group allows people living with Multiple Sclerosis to support each other.

  • 10:00 a.m. on second Saturday of each month
  • Groups are usually held October – April

Safe Rider Program

Each family who attends our Safe Riders Child Seat Course will receive a free infant care seat.

  • The program is open to low-income English and Spanish speaking families.
  • Families must attend a one-hour class to learn how to use the car seat correctly.
  • Classes are held the second Tuesday and fourth Thursday of the month, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Safe Sitter Classes

Young people learn how to be responsible babysitters.

  • Two-day class usually held in summer for girls & boys
  • Ages 11-14
