The newly refurbished Labor and
Delivery Unit provides comfort
and privacy in a soothing nature
inspired environment.
Women’s Services at Knapp Medical Center
includes three patient care units: Labor &
Delivery, Nursery and Postpartum.
The newly refurbished Knapp Labor & Delivery
(L&D) Unit has seven private rooms where
mothers labor and deliver in the same room.
Adjacent to these Labor, Delivery & Recovery
(LDR) rooms are two fully staffed operating
rooms for mothers requiring a cesarean section.
The same nursing professionals who assist the
patient in labor are also trained to assist the
obstetrician during the cesarean section, offering
continuity of caregivers.
Patients recover briefly in L&D before being
moved to a private room on the Postpartum
Unit, where they may choose to have their
newborn “room-in” with them.
The newborn nursery is also located on the
same floor, just a short distance from the
postpartum rooms.
Before Baby Comes
Prior to baby’s arrival, expectant parents can
attend the four week Family Birth Education
Program. Our family birthing classes instruct
the family on the labor and delivery process,
nutrition, exercise, fitness, pre-natal yoga,
baby care and pain management options.
For big brothers and sisters in the family, we
offer concurrent sibling classes geared for
ages 4-12. If you have a younger or older
child, give us a call, and we will specially
design a program to meet your family’s
needs.
Bilingual classes are held Saturdays from
10 a.m.-12 p.m.
For all family members
attending any of the
above classes, the
cost is one low
fee of $40.
