Women’s Health Services
Knapp Medical Center is ranked among the
top 5% in the Nation for Maternity Care 3 years in a row (2009-2011).
We love helping families grow. No wonder our Women’s Health Services
is one of our busiest areas! It includes three patient care units: Labor
and Delivery, Nursery and Postpartum.
Knapp Medical Center Provides
The Knapp Labor & Delivery (L&D) Unit has seven private rooms where
mothers labor and deliver in the same room. Adjacent to these Labor, Delivery
& Recovery (LDR) rooms are two fully staffed operating rooms for mothers
requiring a cesarean section.
The same nursing professionals who assist the patient in labor are also
trained to assist the obstetrician during the cesarean section, offering
continuity of caregivers.
Patients recover briefly in L&D before being moved to a private room
on the newly refurbished Postpartum Unit, here they may choose to have
their newborn “room-in” with them.
The newborn nursery is also located on the same floor, just a short distance
from the postpartum rooms.
Prior to baby’s arrival, expectant parents can pre-register at the
Knapp Medical Center Admitting Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Pre-registration for C-Section deliveries should be scheduled by the attending
